Abstract

1301535 Electro-chemical analysis: voltage measuring MILES LABORATORIES Inc 22 June 1970 [23 June 1969 20 April 1970] 30230/70 Headings G1N and G1U [Also in Division B1] An electro-chemical analysis probe for determining the amount of urea in a liquid comprises a cavity 18 filled with a polyacrylamide gel containing the enzyme urease and a pair of platinum conductivity electrodes 12, 13. An external semipermeable nylon or regenerated cellulose membrane (not shown) may cover the gel. The probe body may be of polystyrene. An alternative construction is described, Fig.2 (not shown). The probe may be used for in vivo measurements on blood. In use, the conductivity and the rate of change of conductivity between the electrodes are recorded on a dual channel chart recorder, Fig.3 (not shown). Fig.4 shows a circuit for obtaining the rate signal. (For figures see next page)
