Abstract

1301161 Riveting P & B ENG CO Ltd and H W WILLIAMSON 9 Aug 1971 [28 Aug 1970] 41437/70 Heading B3U [Also in Division H2] An electrical terminal for mounting in a hole 11 in an insulating support 10 comprises an internally-threaded metal body 13, including a hexagonal head 15 and a cylindrical portion 16, and a metal collar 14 countersunk at one end to provide an inner lip 19. To assemble the terminal the cylindrical portion 16 is passed through the hole and the collar is placed over the protruding cylindrical portion. The end of the body 13 remote from the hexagonal head 15 is then deformed with a tool to form a lip complementary to that on the collar, thereby fixing the terminal on the support. Screws 20, 23 and washers 21, 22, 24, 25 are used to attach leads to the terminal. The collar and body may be made of brass and the insulating support may be formed with a hexagonal recess 12 for receiving the head 15 of the terminal body.
