Toothed wheels are formed with the top surfaces 4 of the teeth 1 curved or ridged, being highest at a point between the ends of a tooth, the object being to prevent said ends from breaking off. The bottom surfaces 5 of the tooth spaces may be similarly depressed. The invention applies to bevel-wheels' and to wheels with helical teeth.
