Abstract
1299401 laminates MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 24 Feb 1970 [25 Feb 1969] 8892/70 Heading B5N [Also in Divisions B2 and C3] Laminates are prepared using as an adhesive a flexible, soluble, fusible, primarily openchain aliphatic linear polymer containing #-hydroxyester and/or #-hydroxyether and/or #-hydroxyamine linkages, at least some segments of the polymer chain include at least 20 members between adjacent OH groups (a ring counts as one "member" as do each carbon atom in an open chain, the carbon atoms directly attached to OH do not count). The polymer has an inherent viscosity of 0À2, OH number of 25-250, is substantially free from oxirane groups and from active hydrogen atoms other than in OH groups in a beta position with respect to the ester, ether or amine linkages; the polymer may be cross-linked to an insoluble and infusible stator via the OH groups, e.g. with a diisocyanate. In an example a #- hydroxyester polymer and a diisocyanate were cooled at 30Á on a polyimide film and laminated at 80 p.s.i.g. to a copper film. After heating for 5 mins. at 150‹ C. the polyimide was firmly laminated to the copper.
