Abstract

1299064 Powder metallurgy ELECTRICITY COUNCIL 19 April 1971 [21 Jan 1970] 3010/70 Heading C7D [Also in Division H5] A method of making a sintered metal article comprises passing the "green" article through a radio frequency electric field at a frequency greater than 50 kHz to heat the article inductively. As shown the articles 11 are passed vertically through a solenoid 10. "Green" articles 12 are fed in at the top of the pile and the finished articles 13 are removed from the bottom of the pile. Alternatively the articles may be conveyed in a horizontal plane past conductors lying in a plane parallel to and above or below the conveyer, the conductor having portions extending to and fro across the width of the conveyer so as to produce a flux through which the articles pass on the conveyer.
