Abstract

1299029 Garment hangers W GOUDER 16 July 1971 33561/71 Heading A4U [Also in Division E2] In a hanger having a pair of jaws 1, 6 pressed together by a spring 12 to grip a garment, the jaw 6 is shaped to support the shoulders of acoat and is provided with a hook 10 and integral or fitted lugs 7 between which lugs 2, bent up from the edges of jaw 1, are received and at least one of the gripping edges of the jaws is provided with a resilient surface to grip the garment. The lugs are apertured for passage of a pivot rod 8 around which the spring 12 is coiled. The ends 14 of the spring press against the jaw 6, and a loop 11 thereof presses against the jaw 1 below an indent 13. The lower edges of the jaws may be formed with channels in which strips 5, 9 of foamed plastics material are adhered. In a modification, both jaws are in the shape of the jaw 1, the wire hook having loops for attachment to the pivot rod 8.
