Abstract

1298579 Nitrosaminals BAYER AG 17 April 1970 [18 April 1969] 18463/70 Heading C2C A process for the preparation of a nitrosaminal as claimed in claim 1 of Specification 1,298,580, comprises reacting an amine of the formula wherein R is an optionally substituted aliphatic, araliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical, with approximately the stoichiometric amount of each of (i) an aldehyde of the formula wherein R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen, a -CHO group or an optionally substituted aliphatic, araliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical which may carry a -CHO group as additional substituent, (ii) a compound of the formula wherein R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are hydrogen or optionally substituted aliphatic radicals, and one of R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> may also be an optionally substituted araliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical, and X is oxygen or sulphur, and (iii) nitrous acid or a compound yielding nitrous acid, at a temperature of from -30‹ to + 20‹ C.
