1298461 Welding by fusion; removing metal by fusion BRITISH OXYGEN CO Ltd 8 April 1970 [18 April 1969 1 July 1969 24 Oct 1969] 20057/69 33275/69 and 52242/69 Headings B3R and B3V [Also in Division C5] Ferrous and non-ferrous metals may be welded, bronze welded, brazed, soldered, hard surfaced, flame cleaned, flame hardened, cut, scarfed or gouged by combusting a fuel gas comprising a mixture of more than 23 mol. per cent 1À3 butadiene and an oxygen-containing gas. The mixture may be formed inside or outside a torch, burner or blowpipe. In cutting a ferrous metal, combustion of the mixture provides heat for the metal which is cut by a jet of O 2 , or by and associated jet of powder which cuts by exothermic reaction or by abrading the metal.
