Abstract

1296678 Gripping tensile test specimens JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 4 May 1970 [6 May 1969] 22947/69 Heading G1S A test specimen (not shown) is screwthreaded at each end into specimen holders, one of which holders is shown in chain dotted lines in the shape of a dumb-bell. The other head end of the holder has a part spherical portion which seats on a part spherical step portion 16c of a groove 16 formed in two co-operating jaw parts 14, 15 held together by pegs 18 and seated in a groove 12 in a platen 11. Thus as the two ends of the test specimen are held by dumb-bell holders in jaw pairs 14, 15 slotted into platens, then the specimen is located against movement in the direction of movement of the platens.
