Abstract

1295918 Brakes TORII WINDING MACHINE CO Ltd 21 Jan 1970 [5 Sept 1969] 2834/70 Heading F2E [Also in Division D1] A brake arrangement permitting an assembly to move freely in one direction between a pair of rails 113a, 113b, but not in the other direction. comprises a body 114 on which is mounted a wedge 118. Springs 116a, 116b on the support 114 force balls 117a, 117b into the gaps between the wedge 118 and the rails 113a, 113b. As a result the body 114 is free to move to the right in Fig. 10. If the body 114 attempts to move to the left, the balls 117a, 117b wedge between the rails 113a, 113b and the wedge 118 and prevent such movement. To release the braking effect two pushing members 127a, 127b are used to force the balls 117a, 117b away from their wedging setting. The Specification also discloses a brake 43, Figs. 4B, 4C, for a spindle 1. The brake 43 is shaped as shown and when in the setting shown in Fig. 4B, it acts on the spindle 1 to brake it. When moved to the setting shown in Fig. 4C a bracket 11 that extends partly around the spindle 1 intersects with the brake 43 to move it out of engagement with the spindle 1.
