Abstract

1295652 Crash barriers PARSONS CHAIN CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [27 Nov 1969] 58038/69 Heading E1G A resilient crash barrier extending between two carriageways comprises a series of chain or cable units connected end to end between ground anchorages 18 by connectors 15, the units being suspended for lateral displacement on intermediate posts 11-12-13, and each unit comprising horizontally opposed lengths of cable or chain 5, 5' spaced on opposite sides of the posts and interconnected by end members 7, 8 and a central suspended spreader 10-20, Fig. 5. In a modification each unit comprises a continuous elongated loop of chain or rope. The spreader shown comprises a ring 20 and pivotal suspension arms 10 which may carry anti-dazzle panels. As shown the units overlap, the connectors 15 passing through holes in the posts. The barrier may be tensioned by springs (not shown) and screw devices. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown) two series of cable or chain units are displaceably suspended one above the other by respective spreader rings (30), (20).
