Abstract

1295480 Olefin-unsaturated ester copolymer blends MONSANTO CHEMICALS Ltd 3 May 1971 [27 May 1970] 25361/70 Heading C3P Compositions comprise a blend of (A) a copolymer of an olefin with 3À5 to 10 weight per cent of an unsturated ester and (B) 0À1 to 10 per cent by weight of the composition of a copolymer of an olefin with 20 to 60 weight per cent of an unsaturated ester and having a melt index of 0À1 to 100 dg/min. The olefin may be ethylene, propylene or a butylene. The ester may be vinyl acetate, ethyl acrylate or allyl methacrylate. The compositions may also contain other compatible polymers, slip agents, carbon black and antioxidants, e.g. 4,4<SP>1</SP>-thio-bis- (6-t-butyl-m-cresol), and may be used for sheathing cables. Examples describe compositions of ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymers, and for comparison compositions of ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer with polyethylene.
