Abstract

1295085 Hand coating apparatus A WAKELIN 12 Aug 1970 [3 Sept 1969] 43551/69 Heading B2L A paint applicator comprises a roller 8 mounted partly within an elongate opening in a housing thereof and transfer means 18 to transfer paint from the housing to the roller 8 the transfer means being rotated by the roller 8 by means of a drive belt located externally of the housing. As shown the transfer means comprise brushes 18 mounted on a bar 16 fixed to a shaft 3 and the shaft 3 carries a pulley 6 rotatable by a band from a pulley 9 on the applicator roller shaft 7. A mark may be provided on the pulley 6 to indicate the position of the transfer means and marks on the housing may be provided to indicate when the transfer means contact the applicator roller. In modifications (not shown) the brushes may be replaced by one or more flexible plastics strips and the transfer means may be driven from the applicator roller by contacting rollers. A filling opening 13 and a handle 15 are provided and feet may be provided on the under surface of the housing to ensure that the apparatus can be stood on a level surface without spillage.
