Abstract
1295076 Pile wire mechanism BRINTONS Ltd 31 March 1970 [8 April 1969] 17933/69 Heading DIE A transverse-pile-wire mechanism withdraws a wire from the woven fabric and inserts another in the shed simultaneously along two parallel tracks 15, 16, and also has means for transferring a wire from the withdrawal track 15 to the insertion track 16. The wires are withdrawn and inserted by carriages 20, 21 and 22, 23 running on guides (38, 39), Fig. 4 (not shown) there being two carriages for each track running on opposite faces of the guides and interconnected by ropes 40, so that when one carriage 20 or 22 moves in one direction, the other of the pair 21 or 23, moves in the opposite direction. The carriages have tongues 25 extending from them which are withdrawn or extended by cams 35 and fixed surfaces 34, 31 acting on control rods 30 in the carriages to engage or disengage slots 26 in head portions 27 of the pile wires. The wires are transferred from track 15 to track 16 by pairs of fingers 46, 47.
