Abstract
1295003 Turbomachine rotors ROLLS ROYCE (1971) Ltd 15 June 1971 27913/71 Heading FIT A gas turbine or like rotor 10 having roots 12 of blades 11 mounted in axial slots 13 in the rotor periphery includes an annular array of bimetallic segmental sealing and blade locking plates 20 located in facing annular grooves 16, 19 in the rotor and blade platforms 17 respectively. Each plate 20 is made of two sheets 22, 23 of stainless steel of differing coefficients of thermal expansion which are welded or brazed together. The sheet having the higher coefficient of expansion is disposed so as to abut the roots 12 and the end face 21 of the rotor. With increase in temperature plates 20 tend to distort so as to more tightly engage the grooves 16, 19 and adjacent rotor and root faces. Projections 37 prevent the plates from being assembled the wrong way round. A second set of bimetallic plates may be provided at the other face of the rotor.
