Abstract

1294991 Locks S-L BOSTROM 7 Jan 1970 [7 Jan 1969] 880/70 Heading E2A A locking device comprises mechanical locking means which is electrically operated and a receiver which comprises a plurality of amplifiers NV1 to NV4 having respective inputs and a plurality of flip-flops FFA to FFD connected to be controlled by output signals produced by respective amplifiers when they receive electric energy having predetermined characteristics, a key N comprising a plurality of spaced terminals 100 to 109 and a member 110 for receiving electrical energy, the key being movable in stationary means to bring the terminals 100 to 109 into contact with terminals 200 to 209 of the stationary means thus effecting a plurality of current flow paths between the member 110 and the amplifiers, the key comprising resistances R1 to R6 and diodes D1 to D4, the magnitude of the resistance R5 being varied by turning a disc IS in the key to a predetermined value, whereby the amplifiers produce outputs which are effective to cause operation of the locking means. Insertion of the key in a keyhole in the stationary means and turning completes a circuit to a supply voltage source DR the end of the key making contact with a contact K connected to earth through a resistance RO. The outputs AA to DD of the flip-flops are applied to logic gating circuitry KG connected to a locking gate LG. The correct key releases the locking means an incorrect key when inserted in the key hole and turned causes a logic gating circuit KK connected between a flip-flop FFN connected to a voltage source DR and the outputs of the flip-flops FFA to FFD to receive inputs which then gives outputs to the gate LG which are incorrect for releasing the locking means. The key may comprise integrated electric circuitry and the key and the stationary means may have other electric components.
