Abstract
1294877 Valves AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO Ltd 19 Oct 1970 [23 Oct 1969] 51942/69 Heading F2V A fluid actuated valve position indicating device comprises an indicator 33 fixedly connected to a valve member in the form of an arcuate wall 18 movable in an annular space which is thus divided by the wall into two chambers 19, 21 each having a pair of ports 24, 26 and 25, 27. Each pair of ports leads to a common passage. A torsion spring 38 is held within the rotor 13, to which the wall 18 is fixed, by pins 37, 37<SP>1</SP> on the valve housing 10, and the wall 18 provides a leakage path between chambers 19, 21. If a fluid pressure actuator is connected to the chamber 21, and the chamber 19 is connected through a control valve to a source of fluid pressure or a drain, further assuming that the actuator controls a valve which is open when the wall 18 is in the position shown in Fig. 5, then to close the valve the actuator is operated to cause fluid to enter chamber 21 to move the wall to the position shown in Fig. 6. The fluid then is exhausted through port 26. A pin 24 on the rotor 13 has meanwhile lifted one end 41 of the spring 38 from its pin 37<SP>1</SP>. The restoring force of this spring then pushes the wall 18 back to an intermediate position in which it covers port 26 (Fig. 7, not shown). This position is recorded by the indicator 33 which moves to a "closed" position on a dial 34. To reopen the valve, fluid pressure is supplied to the chamber 19, the action being the reverse of that just described. A linear piston-type valve indicated is also described (Fig. 9, not shown).
