Abstract

Blanks, transferring.-In a can-making machine the partly-made can is fed from one machine into another and is given a turn through a right or other angle by means of an inclined guideway formed of two parts 1, 2. The part 1 receives the can in an end-on position, but delivers it to the part 2 in a side-on position. The part 1 is formed of adjustable side guides 3, 4, a bottom guide 5 which converges towards the side 4, and an adjustable upper guide (not shown). The guide 4 is provided with an adjustable spring finger 4<a> at its lower end. The can body A slides end-on down the guide-way 2, and when arrested by the side 6 of the lower guide-way 2, the can proceeds to roll or slide down bottom guides 8, and is guided laterally by the adjustable sides 6, 7. The sides 3, 6 are integral, and the whole is mounted on an inclined wooden board 10. From the guideway 2, the can-body is carried by an elevator to be treated in a further machine.
