1294681 Anti-allergic &c medicines FISONS PHARMACEUTICALS Ltd 22 Jan 1970 [1 Feb 1969] 5570/69 Heading A5B [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions useful for treatment of allergic asthma, hay fever, urticaria and auto-immune diseases comprise bisthiachromone carboxylic acid compounds of the formula (I): in which P, Q, R, P<SP>1</SP>, Q<SP>1</SP>, and R<SP>1</SP>, which may be the same or different, each denote H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxy, hydroxyalkoxy, alkoxyalkoxy or carboxylalkoxy, alkenyl or alkenyloxy, amino, mono- or dialkylamino, acylamino, aminoalkoxy, dialkylaminoalkoxy, acyl, hydroxy, or halogen; X denotes -O-X<SP>1</SP>-O- or -X<SP>1</SP>- in which X<SP>1</SP> represents a saturated or unsaturated straight or branched hydrocarbon chain, optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms, carbonyl oxygen atoms, hydroxy or alkoxy groups and optionally interrupted by a carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring, or an oxygen atom, or pharmaceutically acceptable derivatives thereof, as active ingredients, in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent or carrier, and optionally a bronchodilator such as isoprenaline, adrenaline, orciprenaline, isoetharine and derivatives thereof (especially isoprenaline sulphate). The compositions may be in forms suitable for administration orally, parenterally, by inhalation (including use of nebuliser or aerosol dispenser), or topically.
