Abstract

1294193 Treating wool HENKEL & CIE GmbH 29 Jan 1970 [30 Jan 1969] 4297/70 Heading D1P Wool is impregnated with an organic solution containing the reaction product of a polyisocyanate and a C 8-30 compound which has at least one H atom capable of reacting with isocyanate, the reaction product containing one free iscyanate group. The wool is thus softened and stabilized against shrinking, felting and creasing. The solvent, may be, e.g. methylene chloride or perchloroethylene optionally mixed with DMF or n-butyl acetate. Phenyl-#- naphthylamine may be added as stabilizer. The wool may be stored after treatment to obtain final fixing of the reaction product. In examples the reaction products are from; (1) hexamethylene diisocyanate and nonyl phenol; (2) p-phenylene diisocyanate and coconut fatty acid monoethanolamide; (3) 1,4-cyclohexane diisocyanate and tallow alcohol; (4) hexamethylene diisocyanate and rape oil fatty acids.
