Abstract

1293853 Insecticides GLOBUS - WERKE FRITZ SCHULZ JUN 20 May 1970 [12 Aug 1969] 24378/70 Heading A5E [Also in Division B8] A device for the eradication of insects comprises a carrier, e.g. a mixture of cellulose and asbestos, treated with the insecticide dimethyldichlorovinylphosphate, to which is added an evaporation retardant in the form of a block copolymer of propylene oxide and ethylene oxide, which copolymer has one block derived from propylene oxide units and two blocks derived from ethylene oxide units. A solution used for preparing cellulose sheets 1 consists of 2.5% to 22.5% by weight of the evaporation retardant, 10% to 40% by weight of dimethyl dichlorovinyl phosphate, 0.04% to 1% by weight of scarlet fast red, 10% by weight of methanol and the remainder is methylene chloride. At least one of the cellulose sheets 1 is placed in a casing 3 or 4 of plastics material containing ventilation slits 2 and the or each cellulose sheet 1 is held away from the casing walls 6 by webs 7 on the interior surfaces 5 of the walls 6. The casing 4 may accommodate a number of cellulose sheets 1 and have interior guide ribs 9 along the sides 8 and interior spacers 12 at the top 11 and bottom 10. The casing 4 may have a protective covering 13 which consists of a hood 14 fitted over the casing 4, its bottom edge 13 being sealed to the lower part of the casing with an adhesive strip 15'. The covering 13 may be a transparent capping 17 flanged around the edges 18 which can be affixed to a backing 19 and made airtight.
