Abstract

1293070 Unsaturated silicon compounds RHONE-POULENC SA 9 Sept 1970 [10 Sept 1969] 43206/70 Heading C3S Organosilicon compounds having at least one group of the formula wherein R 1 , R<SP>1</SP> 1 and R 2 represent hydrogen or straight or branched chain alkyl groups, or R 2 and R<SP>1</SP> 1 together with the carbon atoms to which they are attached represent a cycloaliphatic or aromatic ring of 5 or 6 carbon atoms, are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula with a compound containing at least one Si-Cl bond in the presence of zinc and either a hexaalkylphosphotriamide or an N-alkylpyrrolidone. The compound containing a Si-Cl bond may be tetrachlorosilane, an organic silane or polysilane, a polysilyl compound or a siloxane. Examples describe the preparation of allyltrimethylsilane, allylvinyldimethylsilane, allylphenyldimethylsilane, allylmethyldibutoxysilane, diallyldimethylsilane, 1,3 - diallyltetramethyldisiloxane, triallylmethylsilane, allyldimethylchlorosilane, trimethylbenzylsilane and tetraallylsilane. Uses.-For preparation of polymers having improved heat stability and water-resistance.
