1292752 Photographic processing apparatus; automatic control of temperature EASTMAN KODAK CO 23 Jan 1970 [27 Jan 1969] 3327/70 Headings G2A and G3R A latent image on a web 25 is developed by apparatus which comprises means 44, 46, 48 for advancing the web along a predetermined path and a single source of radiation 50, the web being heated in a first zone and exposed to actinic radiation through an aperture 66 in a second zone spaced downstream from the first zone. The web is cooled immediately prior to the second zone by contact with a heat sink 87. The path is formed between a drum 28 and a surrounding part-cylindrical member 26, the facing surfaces of which are coated with a low co-efficient of friction material. A resilient felt backing 58 is provided. The radiation source 50 is disposed axially within the drum, which may be internally coated at 60 with radiation absorbing material. The temperature of the heated drum is controlled by a thermistor 62 positioned on an inner surface of the drum so that if the temperature rises above a pre-set value transistor 98 is rendered fully conducting, transistor 104 is rendered less conducting and the potential across capacitor 94 is reduced to below that required to maintain diac 88 conducting. Triac 86 is then switched off to de-energize solenoid coil 82 and to close armature switch 84. A fan motor M. is thus energized to blow cooling air inside the drum.
