Abstract

1292292 Reactor pressure vessels PHILIPP HOLZMANN AG 25 Nov 1969 [25 Nov 1968] 57703/69 Heading G6C [Also in Division E1 In a nuclear reactor prestressed concrete pressure vessel, prestressing wires are wound round the vessel exterior surface and are gripped in anchoring strips secured to the vessel surface. The wires 1, 2, 3, 4 are grouped in 4s to form bands, 11, between the steel or plastics layers, 12. Each anchoring strip 13 comprises a base, 14, and a pressure strip 15 which the bolts, 16, urge into engagement with the wires and layers 12. The bolts are screwed into threaded members secured in the concrete wall. The wires may be wound either in the form of a helix or a stepped helix and the number of layers of wires varied in accordance with their position on the vessel wall.
