Abstract

1291542 Screw elevators F L SMIDTH & CO AS 14 April 1971 1 9395/71 Heading B8A A screw elevator comprises a casing 1 with an inlet 2, an outlet 3 and a screw 4 driven by a reversible electric motor (20) Fig. 4 (not shown) through a coupling 5. The bottom of the casing 1 has a material receptacle 6 equipped with a false bottom 7 for introducing fluidizing air into the casing 1 from an inlet 8. Before being restarted in the normal, elevating, direction the screw 4 is driven in reverse for a short period to loosen compacted material, e.g. cement, the material carried down being accommodated in the receptacle 6.
