1291411 Stabilizing rubbers FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER AG 1 Jan 1971 [3 Jan 1970] 47/71 Headings C3P and C3Q [Also in Division C2] Natural or synthetic diene polymers are protected against degradation through oxidation by incorporating a substituted cresol of the general formula in which m and n are 0 or 1 but cannot at the same time both represent 1. Specified antioxidants are the compounds 2-tert.-butyl-4- methyl - 6 - cyclopentyl phenol, 2 - tert.- butyl - 4 - methyl - 6 - indanylphenol, 2 - tert.- butyl - 4 - methyl - 6 - norbornyl phenol. Exemplified rubbers are light crepe compounded with TiO 2 , BaSO 4 and the usual vulcanizers &c., cis-1,4-polyisoprene; and carboxylated SBR latex foam.
