Abstract

1291042 Bulk storage reservoirs ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 13 Jan 1970 1653/70 Heading E1T A bulk storage reservoir for hydrocarbons comprises a barrier wall 16 erected in a flooded pit with sloping sides 12, piling 14 for locating the wall above the bottom of the pit, a floating roof 18 and if desired bracing means 19. The pit may be provided with an overflow and the barrier wall secured to the side thereof by truss supports, see Fig. 4 (not shown). In a final modification, the barrier wall is sealed to the side of the pit and a conduit is provided therethrough to establish communication between the surrounding flooded pit and a trench within the wall, see Fig. 5 (not shown). For minor details concerning the floating roof, linings and pump means the Specification should be referred to.
