Abstract

1290845 Photographic apparatus AGFA GEVAERT N V 14 Oct 1969 [15 Oct 1968] 48788/68 Heading G2A [Also in Division B8] Apparatus, which is suitable for transferring a photo-hardenable or photo-solubilizable pigmented layer which has been coated on to a temporary support from the temporary support to a permanent support while the latter is wetted by an aqueous liquid, according to the process described in Specification 1,264,313, comprises a pair of co-operating rollers 27, 28, means for driving the rollers, a first planar platform 18 for supporting the permanent support prior to its engagement by the pressure rollers and being formed in such a way as to make interrupted or discontinuous contact with the permanent support when this is placed thereon, a second planar platform 19 arranged over and separated from the first platform for supporting at least the leading part of the temporary support to keep the temporary support separated from the permanent support when that is located on the first platform, the forward ends of both platforms being disposed proximate the nip of the pressure rollers so that the supports as they are advanced are gripped by the rollers and progressively pressed together. The surface of the first platform may be formed with semi-circular projections, or longitudinal ribs or it may be a wafer-like construction. The first platform slopes away from the rollers so that liquid may flow into a tray 14 to be collected in a tube 36. The second platform is slidably mounted to be displaceable away from the rollers and has an extensible bar 24 for supporting a temporary support of large dimension. In use, the second platform is displaced away from the rollers to permit observation of the step of advancing a permanent support to the nip of the rollers, the rollers are rotated to engage the marginal edge of the permanent support by energizing a motor drive for a predetermined time or by operation of a handle between two stops, the temporary support is advanced so that its leading edge enters the nip, and the rotation of the rollers is restarted.
