Abstract

129,060. Robinson, F. H. May 28, 1918. Drawings to Specification. Motors, controlling; commutating poles and windings.-A series electric motor for operating on any of the ordinary supply circuits, either continuous-current or alternating current, has a number of tappings on its field-magnet windings brought out to terminals so that different numbers of turns may be employed according to the voltage and frequency of the supply system; the terminals are arranged in pairs, each pair being marked to show the nature of the supply for which it is intended. The motor is provided with commutating-poles, the windings of which are connected in series with the armature for continuous-current working. For the lower continuous-current voltages, the commutating-windings may be cut out, or alternative use may be made of separate windings on the commutating poles. Specifications 2303/08, 17863/09, and 4249/14 are referred to.
