129,028. Thompson, J. T. June 16, 1917, [Convention date]. Ordnance, lubricating; machine guns.-Relates to guns having means thereon for lubricating the ammunition. According to the invention, the lubricating means comprises a lubricant carrying body arranged to contact with the ammunition. In Figs. 1 and 2, the invention is shown applied to a rifle. Porous pads 24 moistened with lubricant are placed inside the breech-body so that each cartridge wipes against a pad as it passes from the magazine. In a modification, Fig. 6, a pad 24<b> is on the incline at the front of the magazine.. Fig. 21 shows a magazine extension lined with porous material 24<h> moistened with lubricant. The lubricant may be in a liquid, semi-liquid, powdered, or solid state.
