Abstract

1289330 Storing crop A EBERHARDT and D EBERHARDT 19 Dec 1969 [21 Dec 1968 27 Sept 1969] 61903/69 Heading A1F Crop from a trailer 1 is pressed into a storage stack 7 by means of a device 2 which has a mouth 5 corresponding in shape to that of the stack and a conveying device 4. The device 2 is connected by a rope 10 to a fixed wall 8 and has a brake 9 which slips to allow movement of the device 2 when a predetermined compression of crop has been reached. A cover 13 is fixed to the wall 8 and arranged to be drawn out as the device 2 moves. In an embodiment (Figure 5) compression is achieved by a series of worm conveyers operated electrically or by the tractor power take off. Ventilation is provided by pipe 54 and non return valve 55 or arrangements of channels passing through the stack. Drainage apertures 47 allow excess liquid from the compressed crop to drain away. The cover 13 may consist of two parts secured together.
