Abstract

1289048 Tube walls BABCOCK & WILCOX CO 24 April 1970 [25 April 1969] 19690/70 Heading F4B A gastight wall panel of a tubulous vapour generator is formed from spaced vertical tubes 14 between which are welded webs 15 having a flattened C shaped cross-section. The webs may comprise integral members or be formed from two separate arms 17 welded to a common body portion. Gaps 19 allow some lateral expansion of the panel, notches (20, Fig. 1, not shown) in the arms 17 allowing some longitudinal expansion. The welds 16 are designed to fail before the tubes. Insulation 13 and an outer metal skin 12 are also provided. Suitable tube dimensions and spacings are given.
