Abstract

1288842 Carpet and like sweepers; brushes POPEIL BROS Inc 14 April 1970 [24 Nov 1969] 17778/70 Headings A4F and A4K A cleaning device for upholstery, carpets, and fabric comprises a rotary brush 12 mounted between the curved walls 18 of dirt receiving chambers 30 in a brush and dirt holder 17 removably attached to an elongated casing 14. A cloth 11 adapted to pick up lint, cotton, &c., is mounted on a holder 15 on the top wall of the casing 14. A wheel 60 of slightly less diameter than the brush 12 is provided at each end of the brush axle 19 to ensure that the brush is rotated when engaged with a deep pile. A blade 26 at the base of each wall 18 assists in discharging dirt from the surface to be cleaned. The casing 14 is held and moved by hand during use of the device.
