1288760 Electric clocks SMITHS INDUSTRIES Ltd 5 Dec 1969 [10 Dec 1968] 58758/68 Heading G3T [Also in Division H3] An electric clock comprises a crystal oscillator including an AT-cut crystal 13, a metal oxide semi-conductor integrated divider circuit 17 and an indexing system for the time display, the high frequency signals provided by the oscillator being divided by the divider circuit and supplied to the indexing system. The divider circuit and the oscillator maintaining circuit are made from a metal oxide silicon transistor chip which is hermetically sealed together with the crystal in a container. The crystal is made of quartz and oscillates at a frequency of about one megahertz, this frequency being divided by twenty binary divider stages to supply a one hertz signal to the clock mechanism.
