Abstract

1288641 Cleansing pads STERLING WINTHROP GROUP Ltd 9 June 1970 [18 June 1969] 30966/69 Heading A4F [Also in Division A5] A pad for cleansing the anal region is impregnated with an aqueous composition containing at least 15 per cent (by weight) ethyl or isopropyl alcohol and also at least one anti-bacterial agent which is active against gram-negative bacteria, and the pad's provided in an impervious pack. Suitable anti-bacterial agents, which may also be active against gram-positive bacteria, include hexachlorophene and methyl benzethonium chloride cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride, chlorhexidine, benzalkonium chloride, cetrimide and domiphen bromide. The composition may also include a non- ionic surfactant, a healing or growth promoting agent such as allantoin, a humectant, an emollient such as a water soluble lanolin derivative, a perfume, and the composition is preferably in the form of a solution substantially free of undissolved materials or dispersed phases and having a pH value in the range 5 to 7.5. The pad may be of viscose fibre bonded materials or crepe paper.
