Abstract
1288153 Treating poultry THOMPSON CHESHIRE BECKETT (CONVEYORS) Ltd 27 April 1971 [20 March 1970] Heading A2D [Also in Division B8] Apparatus for treating poultry comprises a tank for a treating liquid, an endless grid belt conveyor having upper and lower flights arranged longitudinally of the tank, the lower flight being below the normal liquid level, means for feeding poultry into the tank beneath the lower flight in a tray conveyor at the discharge end of the lower flight to receive the poultry and raise it from the tank. A suitable apparatus is shown in Fig. 1 wherein poultry 6 is delivered down the chute 7 to a brine tank 2, the poultry being held by buoyancy against the surface of the lower flight of the endless grid belt conveyor 1, which flight is positioned below the level 4 of brine. A tray conveyor comprising trays 12 removes poultry from the tank. A further treatment, i.e. a water-spray may be included before the poultry is off-loaded on to the table 14.
