1287611 Diorthosilicic acid esters RUHRCHEMIE AG 1 Oct 1969 [3 Oct 1968] 48349/69 Addition to 1146187 Heading C3S [Also in Division C5] Novel diorthosilicic acid esters of the formula in which either n is 2 and A is a radical of the formula or n is 4 and A is of the formula R<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl group of more than 3 carbon atoms and X is the acyl group of a saturated monocarboxylic acid having more than 2 carbon atoms and containing a quaternary carbon atom, are prepared by reacting an alkanol of more than 3 carbon atoms with an appropriate pentaerythritol dicarboxylate or dipentaerythritol tetracarboxylate and a silicon tetrahalide. Examples of esters are pentaerythritol-dipivalate-diorthosilicic acid hexa-isodecyl, isononyl and isooctyl esters. Uses.-As lubricants, alone or mixed with other lubricants, and as heat transmission and hydraulic liquids.
