Abstract
1287414 Mounting printing plates; registering M HART and M HART Jnr 5 Sept 1969 [11 Oct 1968] 48443/68 Heading B6C A method of registering printing plates on a cylinder relative to a flat lay-off table comprises the use of slidable members which carry pointers for use in association with the cylindrical surface and pointers for use in association with the flat table. In the apparatus shown in Fig. 2 a cylinder is geared to rotate whilst rolling over a flat table 3. In an alternative arrangement the cylinder rotates about a fixed axis and the table moves. Two blocks sliding on rails 26, 27 are provided and each carries a pointer directed towards the table and a pointer directed to the cylinder. Positions on the lay-off table can therefore be easily transmitted to corresponding positions on the cylinder. The cylinder is translucent and fitted with an interior light. Two blocks, interconnected by adjustable means, may be mounted on each pair of rails 26, 27. In the apparatus of Fig. 5 the lay-off of the design takes place on the same cylinder positions selected by one pointer being transmitted to the other pointer as the sliding blocks are fixedly spaced relative to each other.
