Abstract
1287293 Photographic cameras EASTMAN KODAK CO 8 Oct 1969 [8 Oct 1968 11 Oct 1968] 49434/69 Heading G2A Photographic apparatus comprises a holder for receiving a percussion ignitable flash-lamp unit of the kind comprising one or more flashlamps each of which has a primer and a preenergized striker, and an actuating plunger 70 mounted for movement towards the striker on one of the strikers of a unit in the holder, to release the striker from its energized condition to strike the associated primer so as to fire the lamp. As shown, the apparatus is a camera, and the actuating plunger 70 is movable under control of a shutter release member. To make a flash exposure, a shutter release lever 50 is depressed by means of an external tab 55, and a latch 54 thereof releases an arm 64 of a shutter driver 60, so that the arm 64 can, under spring action, rotate anti-clockwise (as seen) to actuate the camera shutter (not shown). Movement of the driver 60 also causes a retaining arm 65 to release the plunger 70 which uses under spring action so that a pin 72 thereof moves through an opening (73) Fig.15 (not shown) to release the individual spring striker associated with the forwardly facing flash-lamp. During film advance, a wheel 45 is rotated anti-clockwise, thus moving a slider 80 to the right, causing a ramped end (83) thereof to contact a pin 76 and move the plunger 70 downwards. As the slider 80 moves to the right, an arm 86 connected thereto engages an ear 91 on the socket 43 (position a of Fig.17). Further movement to the right of the slider 80 rotates the socket 43, and it is held in the advanced position by a spring-loaded detent 92. This rightward movement also causes an arm 82 of the slider 80 to engage and move the shutter driver 60 clockwise to its cocked position, with the arm 64 engaging the latch 54, and the arm 65 engaging a notch 75 of the depressed plunger 70, so the slider 80 can return to its solid line position after film advance. Various forms of percussion ignitable flashlamp units suitable for use with such a camera are described in Specifications 1257845 and 1266358 with reference to Figs. 1-14 (not shown), but they form no part of the invention claimed.
