Abstract

1287115 Counting sheets KOMBINAT ROBOTRON VEB 3 Sept 1969 43561/69 Heading G4D Flat sheets 3 (i.e. punched cards) are moved serially along a conveyer 2, and are counted by photo-electric means which sense when two sheets are placed one above the other and cause rejection or a halt in the conveyer. Light from a source 8 impinges on the lateral edges of the sheets 3 and causes a pulse to be received at photo-electric elements 13, 14 by way of a rotating glass prism 15. If there are two sheets, two pulses are received. The resulting electrical pulses are fed to an electronic device (Fig. 3, not shown) which, if there are two pulses received in quick succession i.e. two coincident sheets sensed, activates a rejection or halt means. The prism 15 may be dispensed with and the elements 13, 14 moved instead. In another embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the prism 15 is dispensed with and one or more matrices of photo-electric elements are used.
