Abstract
1286835 Frequency discriminators MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO Ltd 23 Oct 1969 [28 Oct 1968 20 Sept 1969] 52067/69 Heading H3A In a frequency discriminator comprising inductively or capacitively (Fig. 15, not shown) coupled tuned circuits and oppositely connected pairs of diodes 28a, 29; 28b, 30, a signal e 1 derived from the primary tuned circuit is applied by an arrangement, e.g. capacitor 27 or a coupling inductance (Figs. 13, 14, not shown), to the centre of the secondary tuned circuit and two signals E<SP>+</SP>, E- obtained between the two ends of the secondary tuned circuit and ground respectively are compared with the signal e 1 to form two further signals which are subtracted to obtain the output signal. A narrower selection band is obtained by having a further inductance (Fig. 9, not shown) coupled to the primary and connected between the centre of the secondary and the junction of diodes 29, 30 so that the reference signal is increased by e 1 . Alternatively the inductance may be connected to ground to produce a slightly larger bandwidth. A narrower band may also be achieved by decreasing the detection efficiency of diodes 28a, 28b by series connected resistors (Figs. 12, 14, 15, not shown). Fig. 14 (not shown) relates to a ratio detector while all the other embodiments relate to a Foster-Seeley type of discriminator.
