Abstract
1286675 Coating carpets BOND WORTH Ltd 16 June 1970 [16 June 1969] 30475/69 Heading B2E [Also in Division D1] A method of forming an adherent layer of foamed material on the undersurface of a pile fabric, comprises applying the material when in a flowable condition onto the undersurface at an application station and to a predetermined thickness, the undersurface being presented in an upward direction at the application station, effecting relative advancement between said pile fabric and said application station along a feed path, and constraining the spread of said material laterally of the feed path at each of the lateral boundaries of the pile fabric to confine the material substantially to said undersurface over a distance along said feed path sufficient for a lateral marginal zone at least of the material to become set. Downstream of the application station heat, preferably infra-red radiation, may be directed onto the material, at least along the lateral marginal zone adjacent to the lateral boundaries of the pile fabric, to set the material.
