Abstract

1286246 Polymers containing heterocyclic rings IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 28 Aug 1969 [13 Sept 1968] 43629/68 Headings C3C and C3R Polymers containing structural units of formula where R<SP>1</SP> is an aryl radical, are obtained by reacting an organic polyisocyanate with an aldimine derived from an aromatic aldehyde. The polymers may also contain urethane linkages. In examples polymers are obtained by reacting diisocyanatediphenylmethane with salicylidene-n-propy-amine, with disalicylidene trimethylhexamethylene diamine, with disalicylidene hexamethylene diamine, with dibenzylidene dodecamethylene diamine, with dibenzylidene hexamethylene diamine and with mixtures of oxypropylated glycerol with dibenzylidene trimethylhexamethylene diamine and with dibenzylidene decamethylene diamine; hexamethylene diisocyanate is reacted with salicylidene-n-propylamine; dodecamethylene diisocyanate is reacted with salicylidene-n-propylamine; and a prepolymer containing isocyanate groups prepared from diisocyanatodiphenylmethane and a polyethylene adipate is reacted with salicylidene-n-propylamine. In Examples 6-11 foamed products are obtained by including as blowing agents, methylene chloride or trichlorofluoromethane.
