Abstract

1286155 Conveyers EFCO Ltd 14 Sept 1970 [15 Sept 1969] 45448/69 Heading B8A A panel unit for use in an endless conveyer comprises a perforated rectangular portion 12 provided with hinge lugs 17-24 and recesses 35 for accommodating rollers 34. Fig. 3 shows how an endless member is formed of portions 12 hinged together and supported on the rollers 34 which engage a sprocket assembly 36 and a support rail 46. The portions 12 are of moulded synthetic resin and have perforations which may receive clips for holding articles, or upstanding rods for locating upturned bottles. To increase the width of the load-carrying surface two or more of the portions 12 may be arranged end to end, projections 26 and recesses 28 ensuring their alignment. Tie rods 32 pass through the rollers 34 and the hinge lugs. Metal links 50 also engaging the rods 32 may be used to strengthen the assembly. The sprocket assembly 36 is made up of a plurality of identical blocks 38 which interengage by means of crossed ribs 39 and crossed recesses 40. Tie bars 41 and a flange 43A of the drive for the sprocket hold the blocks 38 together. Sprockets may be provided along the length of the conveyer and they may be driven. By laying the portions 12 flat and the rollers 34 uppermost a roller conveyer is provided, Fig. 6. A number of unconnected portions secured to a base may bridge a curved section between the endless conveyer constructions.
