Abstract

1285958 Carpet cutters COMMERCIAL AFFILIATES Inc 4 Dec 1969 59149/69 Heading B4B A carpet cutter comprises a blade 19 adjustably mounted on a base 11 having an integral hand grip 12, a detachable handle 14, and a support 25 which allows the blade 19 to cut overlapping portions of carpet 34 at an angle to the main portion which is stuck to the floor. The support 25 has a stepped surface 27 engaging with a similar surface in the handgrip 12 so that the position can be varied and locked by a screw 29, the handgrip being recessed to receive the end of the support 25, Fig. 4 (not shown). The handle 14 has a ratchet surface (13), Fig. 1 (not shown), engaging a similar surface on the handgrip 12 so that their relative positions can be varied and lock can be effected by a wing nut 16. Without the handle 14 the cutter may be used for severing carpet as shown in Fig. 5.
