Abstract

1285672 Cutting apparatus FRIED KRUPP GmbH 23 April 1971 [25 April1970] 11082/71 Heading B4B A cutting head 4, for cutting on the bias a travelling web of material, is simultaneously movable at an angle to the web and carries a rotary driven knife 7 which is rotatable about a horizontal axis and also capable of pivoting movement in relation to the cutting head to adjust the angle of cut, the axis 8 about which the head is adjusted in order to determine the cutting angle extends through the point 12 of cutting contact of the rotary knife with the material. The angular position of the knife is adjusted by means of gears 10 and is rotated by means of a gear-and-sprocket drive 13, 14, 15, 17. The knife is mounted in a holder 18 which is pivotally connected at 19 to the head so that the knife may be lifted out of engagement with the material and, at the same time, the gears are moved out of mesh.
