1285271 Pressure-sensitive record sheets J DETHLOFF and H GROTTRUP 1 April 1970 [24 April 1969] 15417/70 Heading D2B [Also in Divisions B6 and G4] Machine readable information is recorded manually using a transfer layer which is constructed to determine the shape, location, size and nature of the marks transferred to a copy sheet when a writing instrument is applied. The transfer layer may be in the form of stripes to record in 1 out of 10 or other code when a mark is made on a numeral or letter printed on a top sheet, or it may be in the form of different dot matrices delineating different characters. The transfer layer may be supported on a separate sheet between top and copy sheets or it may be directly attached to the back of the top sheet or attached to the top surface of a backing sheet so that recording is effected on the rear surface of the top sheet. The transfer layer may be a carbon, pressure-sensitive capsules containing a marking substance or a mixture of such capsules and capsules containing a solvent which releases the marking substance over the complete marking area. Alternatively, solvent capsules may be located between the top sheet and copy-producing areas to release the latter from the top sheet and render them adhesive so that they become attached to a copy sheet. The marking substance may be magnetic, conductive or differently coloured dyes. One or more clock tracks may be printed on the copy sheet.
