Abstract

1284362 Box pallets BOWATER PACKAGING Ltd 19 April 1971 [24 Feb 1970] 8814/70 Headings B8H and B8P A container 1 for bulk transport of flowable material has in each of its side walls at least one rib 9 accommodating a reinforcing member 11 located on a pallet 7 by a batten 13. The container 1 is provided with a base 5 and a lid having side walls overlying the members 11. The container may have an outer sleeve and a liner bag. The container may be rectangular and the ribs 9 and members 11 may be triangular. The side walls may be formed from a scored, lapped and stitched sheet 3 of corrugated fibrous material, from four overlapping scored sheets or from a plain stitched sheet with four scored panels inside it, the members 11 being sandwiched therebetween. The members 11 and battens 13 may be of wood. In order to facilitate unloading, a pull wire is stretched between two base slits 21 with its ends depending therethrough, the slits 21 and a handhole 25 aligned with a pallet aperture (27, Fig. 2) being covered with tape inside the container 1. The liner bag may be open-ended with its lower end gathered, tied and pushed through the handhole 25, the ends of the tie passing through the slits 21 and tied together. To prevent side wall bulging during filling, a frame 15 comprising four interlocking members 17 and pivotable hooks 19 may be provided.
