1284215 Cleaning vehicle headlamp glasses HOLZER PATENT A G 13 Feb 1970 [14 Feb 1969] 6995/70 Heading A4F [Also in Division F4] A vehicle headlamp comprises a cover glass 1 which is of circular cross-section cylindrical form mounted to enclose a lamp bulb 8 and driven by a motor to rotate about its axis such that a wiper blade 5 cleans it as it rotates. Nozzles 7 may be provided for delivering a cleaning liquid to assist the cleaning action. The rotation may be continuous when the cover-plate may be wholly transparent, or oscillating when the cover-plate may comprise an opaque region 11 which can be arranged to automatically cover the headlamp when it is switched off to keep the transparent region 10 clean behind the wipers 5 which also act as screens, and further there may be a yellow filter region 9 for use in fog which can be rotated into position in front of the headlamp. The cover glass may alternatively be arranged to be moved by hand by means of a Bowden cable.
