1283671 Electric incandescent lamps; fluorescent discharge lamps GTE SYLVANIA Inc 4 Jan 1971 [2 Jan 1970] 351/71 Headings H1D and HlF A lamp bulb of the incandescent filament or fluorescent type has a first light-transmitting coating made of a material which is impermeable to hydroxyl ions and a second light-transmitting coating of coloured plastics material, the second coating lying over the first coating. The first coating, which may comprise a silicone or titanium dioxide, prevents any water which falls on the lamp from reaching the glass of the bulb where it would react with the alkali present in the glass to form a soapy material.
